Frequently Asked Questions

1. Is HandWallet Basic a free software?
HandWallet Basic for PDAs (designed for home users) is a complete free software (freeware). There is no time limit in the software and no "Demo" features. HandWallet requires the use of AppForge Booster (known also as Crossfire client), which is an operating system extension. Booster version 4 and Bosster version 5.1.1 are free for ALL devices and are included in the HandWallet installation. In 2007 Oracle has acquired the intellectual property assets of AppForge. If needed, Booster may be downloaded from this URL

2. What is the difference between an action and a payment?
An action may have more than one payment. Actions are more powerful - when you enter an action the payments are created automatically.

3. I make a fixed payment once a month for my daily newspaper. Do I need to insert an event every month?
No. There is an option that allows you to define the timing for each event. A default choice allows you to schedule a one-time event, but this can be altered, for example, to once a month. In this case the sum that you pay for your newspaper will be deducted every month until the expiry date that you define.
To get to these parameters press 'More' when you add or edit an action. Then select "Timing" at the top field called "Subject".

4. I use several credit cards, with payments. Can I know which payments will be debited in the coming months?
Yes. HandWallet not only provides data on your present financial state but also constructs a forecast for the future that takes periodic events and delayed payments etc. into account. You can receive an excellent assessment of the sums that will be debited to you in the future.

7. I'm traveling abroad, do I need to insert events in the various currencies?
Yes. But for this you need HandWallet Pro. You can insert events directly in the foreign currency and you will receive the precise sum in your own currency! Moreover, for purposes of comparison you can also view the information in the opposite direction: how much you paid for the products in your own country, in foreign currency.

8. We are three friends who share an apartment, how should we divide the expenses between us?
There is an option that allows you to assign each event to one person or more. You can then receive a graph or report that shows how much each of you "consumes". Simultaneously it shows how much each one should pay. From there on, it's already easy.

10. What is an electronic wallet?
There are many definitions. The general idea is that in the future you won't need to insert events into the system. You will simply pay directly with your PDA or mobile phone. The cashier will transmit the sum to you through the infra-red interface, you will type in a code and affirm it. Simple, quick and it allows you to have complete control.
