Connect your Palm Pilot to the Internet using a USB Interface
HandWallet includes the possibility to export data from the Internet. Using HandWallet, you can receive directly to your PDA
information regarding exchange rates, various indexes, stock quotes, interest rates and personal
financial information.
In order to link your Palm to the Internet, you would need a cellular modem or a wireless LAN.
In certain cases, you might be able to connect your Palm to the Internet using your synchronization kit or
IR-Infra red connection.
Connection method depends upon your synchronization kit:
Connecting using serial cable or Connecting using a USB connection.
Internet Connection Using a USB Interface: Minimum Requirements:
Connection of the desktop PC to the Internet
Operating System: Palm OS 3.5 and up
Palm Desktop version 4.0 and up. You can download the last Palm Desktop version from
Palm Support site
Use a connectivity software, such as
Softick PPP (USB Version),
and follow the installation instructions.
Step A:
Select a language.
Step B:
Read and accept license agreement.
Step C:
Select which features of Softick you want to install.
Step D:
Choose the folder in which to install Softick PPP.
Step E:
Config USB Share mode.
First option -
Use USB port in share mode.
Second option -
Use USB port in exclusive mode.
In this mode Softick PPP will shutdown HotSync on activating Softick.
Step F:
This screen explains the 2 steps needed to be connected to the Internet.
1. Click "Activated PPP" in the Softick menu item.
2. Tap "Connect" button on the Palm Pref/Network page.
Step G:
Complete installation setup and start Softick.
